A complete API flow for finding overseas decision-maker emails
Finding decision-maker emails is a four-stage pipeline: enrich the company, locate the right role, find the email, then verify deliverability. Filter between every stage — otherwise cost multiplies down the chain.
Stage 1 — company enrichment
Input is usually a company name or domain. What you need out of it is the canonical domain, size, industry and country — enough to drop obvious non-ICP accounts. Every company filtered here saves roughly three calls downstream.
Stage 2 — locate the person
Search by function, not by exact title. Titles vary sharply by market — a purchasing lead is Einkaufsleiter in Germany and Procurement Manager or Sourcing Director in the US. Describing function plus seniority recalls far more.
Stage 3 — find the email
This is where a waterfall pays off: try sources in priority order and return on the first hit. A single source typically lands 40–60%; chaining several lifts that substantially, and because the chain stops on hit, cost doesn't scale linearly.
Stage 4 — verify
Always verify before sending. Unverified lists raise bounce rates, which damages sending-domain reputation. Flag catch-all domains separately and send to them on a more conservative cadence.
